"God's Sovereignty"

"What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction. And that he might know the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore, prepared unto glory; Even us, whom he has called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? As he says also in O-see; I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved. And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, you are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God."

Romans: 9: 22-26 KJV

"MAKING IT PLAIN"
"My sovereign will is endless and it spreads throughout the universe and has no time. I have predestinated many of the Gentile nations or "heathen people" from the foundation of the world that was considered not my people, meaning to them that were not of the Jewish nation to become sons and daughters; and also my beloved ones. For you see, says the Lord there is no partiality and no difference between the man or woman who is willing to love and serve me; and who will accept my love for them through salvation from sin. I have prepared for me a people out of many nations of people that will be a people most beloved unto me and I will also be their God."

“Healing and Restoration from Strife and Contention”

Foundation Scriptures:
“Hatred stirs up strife: but love covers all sins.”
Proverbs: 10: 12

“The fear of the Lord prolongs days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.”
Proverbs: 10: 24

There is a need for healing and restoration for all who have been set apart due to strife and contention, petty jealousies, grief and sorrows, and disillusionment for whatever reasons. Especially in our families because they truly have need of forgiveness and healing from their past hurts. We have all made mistakes and many of us have regretted them in one way or the other. So, it is time that we throw out the hostilities and every evil thought towards one another and be reconciled back to God and each other with His love and peace.

The Father demands that we first love him above all and love one another as we do ourselves to fulfill the law of His will. The bickering, name calling, and hatred must stop. The selfishness, greed, indifferences, and competition for one another’s affection along with fault-finding must cease. Hate begets hate and violence begets violence the negatives of evil is never good for the soul and does not comfort the broken hearted. So put away foolishness and be wise.

One day it will be required of us of how we have performed while living on this earth. We shall all be judged of the things we’ve done and have said while alive in this physical body. Even for those who do not believe that there is a God and in the name of His son, (Yeshua Ha’Machiach), “Jesus the Messiah –the Anointed One,” the King of kings and Lord of lords that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess Him and will have to give an account of their ungodly deeds.

Life is too short for constant babblings and arguments that will only end in despair. It is time that we take our lives more seriously than that because “life” is like a vapor that dissolves into nothingness, and like the flower that dies and fade away. No one knows the day or the hour when their life will cease, nor do they have the power to stop death when it comes for them. We will all one day have to meet the Father and Creator and stand before the Throne of Judgment. Should we not try to live more peaceable with one another, and to ‘do that which is right’ with the fear of the Lord in our hearts?  Let us be warned that our God demands justice and that ‘the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.’

In closing, let us remember that strife and contention leads to confusion and every evil work. Let us resist the evil and hold fast to that which is good because the good is profitable unto us. Our God is a consuming fire and hates the wickedness of the wicked; a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. A heart that devises wicked imaginations, and feet that be swift in running to mischief. A false witness that speaks lies, and sows discord among brethren. When we think that no one is watching, and that nobody knows the secret thoughts and imaginations of our heart. Let us remember that the Lord our God is always watching and knows everything!

Shalom!

A Shift in the Spirit Realm

As Spoken through Min. Devon Wilford-Said

Wednesday, September 26th 2012

Have faith in God, and stand strong because there's a wave of atmospheric disruptions that will be shaking up the wicked. We're in a battle that's not ours but the Lord our God is mighty within our midst and He shall fight for us. He is our strong tower and fortress where we can run to for safety.

The Lord's hand of justice shall prevail on those who would cause havoc in the lives of His people because the Lord is angry with the wicked every day! So gird up your loins with truth and speak the Word of God with boldness against your adversaries. Remember, "No weapon that is formed against us shall prosper and every tongue that rise against us in judgment we shall condemn for this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord; and our righteousness is of the Lord, says the Lord." There is a war going on in the heavens; and also wars and rumors of wars in the earth. But the peace of God shall be with His people even in the midst of the world’s turmoil.

Get ready now because there's a shift in the Spirit realm and God is about to show Himself mighty in the midst of His people. Set yourselves, and stand you still to see the salvation of your God who is with you. Know that we are more than conquerors in Him who has loved us unconditionally even from the foundation of the world. Continue on to do the will of the Lord; and work while it is day and occupy until the Lord comes with great power and glory.

As the Lord have said, Lo' I am with you always even unto the end of the age. Worship and praise the Lord with singleness of heart and rejoice! Be strong in Him and in the power of His might! You shall overcome in all things; so prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers in the Name of Yeshua, Ha'Machiach (Jesus the Messiah, the Anointed One of God)!

Amen and let it be so...Selah.

“SPEAK LORD YOUR SERVANT HEARS”

A Word Spoken In Season
By the Holy Spirit through Min. Devon Wilford-Said
In Response to Prayer

Peace like a river and of the water brooks!
Listen to the stillness of the Lord’s presence
Hear Him in the midst listen and let your soul live
To declare the goodness of the Lord.
Listen that’s it in the quietness there is peace
Be still and know that He is God.  And lo’ Here am I.
Listen.  Ah, do you feel me?  Do you know how much I love you?
“Yes, I do.” But do you know how much I love you?
I love you more than time—the time of your existence
I love you more than you’ll ever know because I give unto you my eternity.
Yes I give unto you the eternal I give unto you my Word.
And give unto you my best my Son who is righteousness and judgment
Who is grace and truth I give unto you the power of my Holy Spirit
I give unto you great things that you know not.
I give unto you the abundance of all things that you need
To survive while in the earth
I give unto you knowledge, wisdom, and understanding.
I give unto you the joy of heart and my peace
I give unto you all that your heart may desire
And more--shh---shh and listen!
Do you hear what’s in the silence of quietness?  Listen and hear—
Do you hear what the Spirit is saying to you the Church?
Listen and hear—do you hear the sound of rain and the latter rain of blessings?
Listen.  Do you hear the sound of the shofar blowing in the distance?
And the Angels of the Lord chasing away your enemies
Listen and hear...
Do you hear the sound of victory over all your circumstances
And a weight of glory lifting you out of your despair
Listen. Do you hear my thoughts of you?
How I have purposed you to be here from the foundation of the world to
Perform my will in the earth as a living testament of my sovereignty and counsel?
Listen and hear.  Do you hear the favor that has been given you that men shall pour
Into your bosom with good measure pressed down,
Shaken together and running over?
Listen. Do you hear the prosperity of my servants who shall be rewarded
As you shall be rewarded for your faithfulness
And due diligence to serve me in spite of?
Listen yes, do you hear?
Do you hear the sound of sweet success from everything
That you shall find your hands to do?
Yes O’ Daughter of Zion hear and listen!
For I the Lord your God have heard your cries
I have stored all of your tears in a bottle with your name on it
And Lo’ I shall give you a new name!
Listen and hear and know that your God is righteous and just.
He is merciful and kind and He loves unconditionally.
Listen and hear and speak words of faith.
Stand on my Word!  Live peacefully with all men.
Rebuke them who dare to set up snares against you and your family.
Bring low the proud and stand up against your enemies with boldness.
You do not have to fight this battle--yes this battle is not yours but the Lord’s!
Therefore stand you still and see the salvation of your Great God
Who is in the midst of you and your enemies.  It is He who shall fight for you.
Listen and hear the sound of the trumpet as it blows and the wrath of God,
Shall fall upon the heads of the wicked and the oppressor
Listen and hear.  For I have set up strategies in the high places
For you and my servants who shall fight the good fight of faith!
Listen and hear.  The words that I speak unto you which are Spirit and Life.
You are the authority in the earth I have given you My Body and Remnant,
My Called and Chosen, My Faithful and Beloved,
My Heirs of Salvation and Kings and Priests the dominion to possess the land.
Listen and hear.  It is your time to perform that which I please.
It is your time to inherit all good things.
It is your time to possess the abundance of the land.
As it is in heaven so shall it be upon the earth.
Listen and hear the sound of victory as you wait for my coming!
Listen and hear signs and wonders following my Word.
Listen and hear the captives being set free and devils cast out.
Listen and hear the faithful "Remnant the Body of Christ"
As they rise above their circumstances,
And walk in victory in every area of their lives.
Listen and hear that I Am the Lord your God and besides me there is no other god.
Listen and hear that I AM your God and you are My People,
And I shall be with you always—even until the end.
Selah and Amen... #

“BUT, I SHALL CHOOSE TO HAVE FAITH IN SPITE OF”

It would be so nice if I could actually get some more LIKES on my FB Author's Page and more visitor hits to my Author's website at: www.vision2c.wix.com/devon-wilford-said!  And it wouldn't hurt for either for more purchases and reviews of my two self-published books as well!  Yes, they still can be purchased at the Xlibris Corporation online www.Xlibris.com , or at most local Barnes and Noble bookstores www.barnesandnoble.com , or www.Amazon.com.
You know—at times it can be rather challenging for struggling writers/authors to become successful.  But I dare not give up hope; which is my expectancy for things to come.  In the Word of God it tells us that, “All things are possible to them that believe,” therefore if I can continue to believe His Word for the impossible... The Lord shall make all things possible because nothing is impossible with Him!
A PRAYER OF FAITH!
Now as my faith is, and in the Name of Jesus Christ the "Anointed One" of God, I speak increase and divine favor on my behalf for the successful marketing of my books with increased sales and royalties for more than enough.  And that a portion of the proceeds shall be used to perfect the mission for Hallelujah Praise Ministries, Inc.
Lord, I pray also on the behalf of all struggling writers and authors needing an increase in sales for their books that you shall provide and supply all their needs according to your riches in glory in Christ Jesus our Lord in whose name I pray, Amen and let it be so!  #

"The Word"

"Your word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against you." Psalm: 119: 11 King James Version

"Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
Psalm: 119: 105 King James Version

Rejoice in the Word of the Lord; and hold fast to its principles. It will teach you all things pertaining to life and godliness. It will comfort, encourage, rebuke with all longsuffering; it will guide and correct, and lift up the hung down heads of the oppressed by giving them hope.

The Word will reprove, warn, judge and forgive. It will show men and women, and boys and girls how to live; and walk upright before the heavenly Father through our Lord Jesus Christ.
It will chasten and not kill believers; but it will destroy the wicked and unbelieving who mock God through disobedience and rebellion. It will cause men to be fearful and pricked to their hearts when they hear the truth.

The Word of God stands sure and it heals the broken hearted; and gives life to the dead when quickened by the Holy Spirit. The Word stands on its own merit and prevails against all evil. When spoken with authority it will be quick and powerful as a two-edged sword; cutting unto the dividing of the soul and spirit. Although it cuts to the heart it also mends that which was broken.
Rejoice in the Word of the Lord and hold fast to its message because it will sustain you and keep you alive forevermore. Give glory to the Lord your God who sent His Word in the person of Yeshua Ha’Machiach; who is Jesus Christ the anointed Messiah and the “WORD OF GOD!”
Amen and amen…

WILL YOUR VOICE CARRY FAITH?

My voice carries words of peace and reconciliation, my voice carries words of compassion and agape love; my voice carries words of exhortation and comfort to the needy. My voice carries words of healing and encouragement for the hopeless. My voice carries the Spirit of life eternal through the Heavenly Father's agape love for all. My voice carries a message of love, mixed with hope and the faith of God.
What will your voice carry? Will you speak out and cry aloud to declare that the true and living God is real? Just what will your voice carry? Will your voice carry faith?
Have faith in God...

“Separated From God”

By: Min. Devon Wilford-Said

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity: your lips have spoken lies, your ...tongue has muttered perverseness.

None calls for justice, nor any pleads for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

They hatch cockatrice eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eats of their eggs dies, and that which is crushed breaks out into a viper.

Their webs shall not become garments; neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.

The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goes therein shall not know peace.”
Isaiah: 59: 1-8 Holy Bible KJV

There’s an urgent call and cry from the Spirit; Yes, a voice that has cried in the wilderness for many centuries to make straight paths for the coming of the Lord. People of the world will you hear before it is too late?

How long will you go between two opinions? If you believe that there is no true and living God then continue on in your ways to see what your end shall be. But, and if you believe that the Lord God of our Fathers is the true and living God; and that he sent His only begotten Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to die for your sins then follow him. Why would you be separated from the only hope there is for eternal life?

We live in a world of hatred and violence…where the love of many has waxed cold. Many people choose to live in fear and subject themselves to a hopeless state of being. They choose to carry on in turmoil with feet swiftly running into mischief and by hastening to shed innocent blood.

We live in a world with men of power that have corrupted our nation with their pride, selfishness, greed, and insatiable lust for money in order to acquire wealth that they may hoard up everything for themselves, and to oppress the disadvantaged and disenfranchised.
Will you be inclined to know the peace of God that surpasses all understanding, and to receive of His unconditional love that he has for you to heal your broken heart and to mend your lost soul? If you would humbly repent which is the act changing one’s mind; and to do that which is right? And give yourself completely to the one that is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than anyone could ask or think?

And if you would say, “yes” to His will—your separation from God would be ended thus giving you an ability to walk faithfully with your Heavenly Father who has chosen to bring you out of darkness and into His marvelous light. Think about it! ###

“A Message to Young People that May be Caught Up in Violent Lifestyles”

In Memory of Marvin L. Buckson, Jr. (Lil’ Marvin)
R.I.P

Foundation Scriptures: “Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.”
Proverbs: 10: 6

“The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the forward mouth, do I hate.”  Proverbs: 8: 13

...“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. For by me your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.”
Proverbs: 9: 10-11

“These six things do the Lord hate; yea, seven are an abomination unto him. A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. A heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sow discord among brethren. My son, keeps your father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of your mother:”
Proverbs: 6: 16-20

“The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covers the mouth of the wicked. Hatred stirs up strife’s: but love covers all sin.”
Proverbs: 9: 11-12

“Hear you children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.”
Proverbs: 4: 1

“Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso finds me finds life, and obtain favor of the Lord. But he that sins against me wrongs his own soul: all they that hate me love death.”
Proverbs: 8: 33-36

“Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more than the hearts of the children of men?” Proverbs: 15: 11

“Whoso keeps the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man’s heart discerns both time and judgment. Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him. For he know not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be? There is no man that has power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither has he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.”
Ecclesiastes: 8: 5-8

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. Honor your father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth." Ephesians: 6: 1-2

In Memory of: Marvin L. Buckson, Jr.
Young people take heed and beware of choosing to make wrong decisions! Beware of hooking up with people that may have evil agendas towards you. If the company you keep does not promote and deposit good into your life then that person is either up to no good, and does not mean you any good. There is an evil influence just waiting at the door to snatch away your souls into a world of hurt that usually leads to the path of death and destruction. God wants you to make right choices and to do that which is right that your time on earth will be prolonged.

Remember, that the Lord loves you and has purposed you to live a long and successful life until He calls you home at the appointed time. Think twice and seek the Lord before making any more wrong choices! The Lord does not want you to become another statistic like my beloved nephew Marvin Buckson who was violently killed recently. Yes, he was gunned down with multiple gunshots to the head and left for dead with his blood crying up from the streets in anger to God.

Another young man snatched away and taken by the evil intent from the hearts of those violent perpetrators’ that chose to do bad over that which is good and right. Another senseless killing that leaves behind a grieving father and mother, children, stepmother, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and many other extended family, friends, and friends of the family. Another young person who will never have that opportunity to help raise his child or watch him or her grow up too become successful by having the chance to that which is right! Another young black male statistic cut off way before his time…and is now gone to soon!

The ‘fear of the Lord is truly the beginning of wisdom’ and I admonish each and every young person whose eyes should happen to fall on this message to take heed…Fear the Lord, and keep his way and do that which is right.

If you are caught up into violent street gangs pray and ask God to deliver you out! If you have not yet called on the Lord for salvation. Remember that your hands is too short to box with God, and it will be hard for you to kick against the pricks. Turn over your stubborn wills and submit to God. REPENT from your sins and confess the Lord Jesus who loves you unconditionally. All that means is that you can change your mind from doing evil—and accept the Lord Jesus Christ to be able to do that which is good through believing on him, and confessing him as your Lord and Savior. You will feel a heavy burden taken off of your shoulders and, “you” and your family will now be covered under the righteous blood of Jesus Christ.

Don’t wait until its late because we know not the day nor the hour when our Lord comes…nor do we know when will have to leave this earth in death. At least you will know upon accepting the Lord Jesus that your name will be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. True believers when they die they sleep in the Lord until the Lord awakens them at the last day. They do not die a second death but it is risen from death to eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord! Think about it…young people and heed the warning to do that which is right and live life everlasting even unto death and beyond! #

Instructions:  (Read these scriptures aloud and meditate on them daily)

How to Give Love Unconditionally

There is a "Spirit of love" hidden deep within the hearts of humanity that is destined to be released unconditionally and without partiality.  Can’t you just feel it?  Yes, we have so much love to give and we’d like to give it out—but many times in the midst of it all we may feel that it won’t be reciprocated back to us.  So then…what do we do about it?  Do we hold on to it selfishly and refuse to give it unless it’s given back to us at full measure?  Or, do we say that we love and at times kind of show it through our emotions and feelings?   That would mean knowing the different types of love…wouldn’t it?  Or, being able to express whatever kind of love that we think would be considered unconditional?
So many questions and just who has the right answers when it comes to unconditional love?  Well, the only logical and reasonable answer to that question would be to go directly to the source of that so called, “unconditional love.”  He is the Abba Father and creator of all things.  The scripture says, that “God is love and that love is of God.”

“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God and everyone that loves is born of God, and knows God.  He that loves not knows not God: for God is love.”  I John: 4: 7-8
Yes, unconditional love can be given freely to all people and that love covers a multitude of sin, cast out fear which causes torment; and can also heal the brokenhearted.   That kind of love is given freely to all mankind through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha’Machiach).

Once we come to know and accept his salvation through the repentance of our sins that agape love now covers all and is shed abroad in our hearts.  What a breakthrough revelation the “Spirit of love” that dwells deep within our hearts can be freely given if and whenever we choose to give it!  I challenge everyone to reach out and express that love right now.
Show some compassion reach out right now and help someone in need, forgive that person you’ve been holding a grudge against for some time now.   Forgive yourself for harboring evil thoughts against your neighbors and reach out to embrace your children, your friends and beloved.  Above all things stop the hate and malice you may have against another person because of the color of his or her skin.  Rejoice with them that rejoice and weep with them who weep.

Spread unconditional love to everyone that you come in contact with and remember that you have the power to change the world!  Think about it!  Shalom. #

"WHY WRITERS WRITE"

“Sunlight”

"The dawning of light has sprung forth into a brand new day as the sun's fluorescent rays have pierced the earth's fiery domain."
--Devon Wilford-Said
I believe that all "writers" were born as gifted people whose purpose is to create and too manipulate words!  We habitually write down our innermost thoughts on a daily basis.  And tell real life stories that have been hidden from this present day reality...deep within our imaginations until NOW at this very moment.
The urge to create words that describe the emotions and feelings of one's life, or an imaginary life; and to impart that life on a blank sheet of paper with ink MUST not be quenched.  Through writer's blocks, daily distractions from family and friends, the Internet, TV, or from our bosses on the job screaming for that deadline article to be turned in immediately, street noises, people carousing and acting like fools, the noises from pet dogs and birds scream for our attention.
Awwh…Hey that's an idea, we can write about people's pets, screaming bosses, and about the Internet, or partying people on the streets.  Whatever our ideas or thoughts as they come the bottom line are that we writers write because that is what we do...and we just love it!

SOMETHING TO PONDER...

There's too much racism, hatred and violence in today's society and it should not be so. A person's skin color, natural appearance, religion, and or sexual origin should not determine whether or not that person should be allowed to live freely here on this planet called, Earth.

We all have certain things in common as human beings...We have to breathe in oxygen into our lun...gs and exhale carbon dioxide, we have to eat, sleep, bathe, release waste products from our natural bodies, no matter what size of our body mass may be; and the color of skin cannot change that reality.

Instead of pulling one another down because of ignorance, hatred, bigotry, selfishness, greed, and misplaced affections...we should be encouraging one another, loving one another, and giving respect as much as we ourselves will demand to be respected.

We should love and raise our children righteously, honor our parents, support the meek and the elderly; and show compassion towards those who are less fortunate than us. We should share in our resources and not try to hoard up everything for ourselves. We should give above all because it shall be given back unto us good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.
Sure, this life can be hard to live at times because of all the negativity and evil that surrounds it...but we MUST make a choice to do that which is right no matter what the situation. We choose to do and we choose not to do...because a man or woman will only do what is in their heart!

I encourage everyone who has taken the time to read this to PONDER the contents within; and to do that which is right! If you are dealing with racial prejudices, allow love to conquer hate, and compassion to dispel the ignorance of racial superiority because no one is better than anyone else. We all must live and will one day have to die. In fact death cannot be escaped and it has no respect of a person for whom it claims at any given moment.

Our riches, power, color of skin, race, cultural, religious or sexual persuasion, intelligence, or stupidity cannot change our fate when the shadow of DEATH comes to claim our souls. So let us stop...take heed and give more LOVE to one another while in this life! And do that which is RIGHT because after all, it is the RIGHT thing to do!

Peace,

THE MIND OF THE WRITER

The mind of the writer explores a world of self-expression and creativity to produce words that purposely grabs the attention of a targeted audience of readers.  Words that embrace the very heart, soul and mind of that targeted audience to enable them to see the vision planted on that blank sheet of paper that’s now inked with creative text… (To be continued) #

“COMMENTARY ANALYSIS:

“UNEQUALLY YOKED RELATIONSHIPS”
II CORINTHIANS 6:14-18

Introduction:

14        “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.  For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common?  Or what fellowship can light have with darkness.
15        What harmony is there between Christ and Belial?  What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

16        What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God, As God has said: I will live with them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.
17        Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord.

18        Touch not the unclean thing, and I will receive you.  I will be a father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

II Corinthians: 6:14-18 NIV

The above passage of scripture found in II Corinthians has been one of extreme controversy and doctrinal misconceptions.  Many believers who have married into interracial and interfaith marriages such as me have been branded and condemned as “un-equally yoked together with unbelievers,” and are urged to separate from the very person that the creator has sent and joined together in holy matrimony based on his agape, or unconditional love.
It took the leading of the Holy Spirit, prayer and lots of study and research to dispel some of the myths surrounding this text.  I hope that it serves as a catalyst and open up the understanding of many ministers, lay persons, and spiritual leaders about the importance of God ordained marriages and relationships.
II Corinthians: 6:14 NIV
“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers,
For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common?
Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

What is Unequally Yoked?

Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary defines the word, “yoke,” as a wooden bar or frame by which two draft animals (as oxen) are joined at the heads or necks for working together, and as an arched device that’s formerly lay on the neck of a defeated person.

Verse fourteen of this chapter and the additional verses listed—based on the background of the scriptures, reflects Apostle Paul’s second letter to the church of Corinth during his sufferings in the ministry.  He’s found here giving words of exhortation to avoid idolatry.  Unbelievers as you would have it had infiltrated the church with false practices and the worshiping of idol gods also carnal minded believers that yielded to their own fleshly desires and weaknesses.  These things had been forbidden and Apostle Paul spoke out against it because the Corinthians had intermingled with devil worshiper and enjoyed their senseless shenanigans as a sure display of hypocrisy to their commitment to the, “One true God.”
Believers and unbelievers were considered yoked together by those practices.  And that type of fellowship could not reflect the holiness of God, and had harsh consequences.  Revelation, chapter 21 and verse 8 states, “But the fearful, and the unbelieving and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremonger, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake of fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
An unequally yoked relationship as defined in verse 14 of Second Corinthians represents the above descriptions for unbelievers, and should not condemn God ordained relationships.  If two people are joined together in holy matrimony by their love for one another, regardless of their race, religion, creed, or ethnic background that bond should be respected.  The love factor should be the main ingredient that knits everything together.
“For marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but whoremonger
and adulterers God will judge.”  (Hebrews 13:4 KJV)

II Corinthians: 6:15-16 AMP
“What harmony can there be between Christ and Belial (devil)?
Or what has a believer in common with and unbeliever?
What agreement can there be between the temple of God and idols?
For we are the temple of the living God, even as God said,
I will dwell in and with and among them and will walk in and
Among them, and I will be their God and they shall be my people.”

How could Christ be enjoined with Belial, or the devil?  There is no commonality in or between the two.  Wouldn’t an unequally yoked relationship between those two elements be construed as disharmony?  Yes, of course it would.  Could a true follower of Jesus be joined with Satan?  Surely, that would cause for war within the temple.

Spiritually, speaking the temple that Paul spoke of was not the actual temple or building structure where the believers gathered to worship.  But, instead the body of the believer for which was considered the spiritual house or temple where the Holy Spirit of God took up permanent residence.  “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of Truth.  The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him, nor knows him.  But you know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.”  (John14: 16-17)

Since some of the people were given to idolatry and began to sacrifice to other pagan gods which provoked the Lord God to jealousy by such practices and also defiled their temples.  Apostle Paul urged them to put an end to such acts of disobedience.
The Bible tells us that it’s not God’s place to be in the midst of an unholy people.  He had strict requirements for purity, and cleanliness.  “Know you not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?  If any man defiles the temple of God him shall God destroy: for the temple of God is holy…”  (I Co: 3:16-17 TCRB)

Therefore in order for a relationship to be equally yoked together, definite changes in practices of worship, and refraining from evil associations had to be initiated.  As well as changes in one’s inner character and behavior towards others to exemplify God’s love.  In other words, believers must have a commitment to righteousness and morality-- and not that of cultic prostitution, and the bowing down to worship idols such as the goddess Aphrodite, and other pagan gods.

II Corinthians: 6:17-18 NIV
“Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.
I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons,
And daughters, says the Lord almighty.”

In the last two verses, 17-18—the warning was to be separated from unholy alliances, and not to touch unclean things that were sacrificed to idols.  Could true believers in God hold fast to such practices, and expect to remain connected to him?  Does not the Word of God apply to everyone?  His plan was not to exclude any race of people.  Even the Gentile nations were to be drafted in according as they believed.  After all, God knows the hearts of all men and has selected many called, chosen and faithful to inherit eternal life.

“And God, which knows the hearts bare them witness giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us… And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.”  (Acts: 15:8 NIV)

True followers of Jesus would not tempt God by putting yokes on the necks of others.  Would it be right to put pressure on believers to conform them to man-made traditions, and ideals for spiritual living to justify religious doctrines and personal belief systems?  Thereby in following such practice not being able to rightly dividing God’s Word by the Spirit, and by love, faith and humility.  Isn’t that the standard for right living without having to show partiality?

Or should legalism be used to force religious customs and practices upon others based on the Mosaic Laws?  Apostle Paul, spoke against that type of practice in the book of Acts chapter 15.

The Conclusion of the Matter

I’ve often questioned should a person that believes in God have to surrender his culture and origin to become Jewish with the adopted lifestyles laid out in the Mosaic Law?  Or should Gentiles be forced to comply with all the doctrinal standards of various customs and practices from the early church?  And in today’s churches and congregations, should there be “divisions and schisms?”  How could a man judge another man righteously and without partiality when only Almighty God has that right and ability?  When a person has right standing with God, it must be reflected in all earthly relationships.

In my opinion, I would think that “unequally yoked relationships” relates to that of the “fearful, and unbelieving;” and the “abominable, murderers, whoremonger, and sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars,” described in the Book of Revelation.  After all, the Bible also says that, “He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the only begotten Son of God.”  (John: 3:18)

In my opinion we are all creatures of God, and share a wholesome connection between God, and each other.  Everyone has a divine purpose and destiny for what He has called them to be.  We’ve been gifted with talents and special abilities that allow us to perform and relate well to each another.  The strongest and greatest of our gifts would be our ability to be loved, and to give love unconditionally.  The way God’s unchanging love sets the example for us all.

Our humanity, should display that commonality no matter what race, religion, creed or ethnicity we may find ourselves in.  It starts with each individual when they have made the right choices in life to give back what God has given freely-- the ability to love, and to be loved. That’s the true essence of being “yoked together,” and it bonds the perfect relationship, in spite of!

In closing, it’s my hope that this commentary has served as an eye-opener for many that may have used (II Corinthians: 6:14-18) unjustly.  I also pray that God heals and restore those believers such as myself that have been criticized and ostracized because of it.  To be strengthen by his love, and forgiveness that we may forgive also, and glorify God with our unconditional love.

Peace Be to You All!  #
